Virginia’s oldest distillery, A. Smith Bowman Distillery, has just released the latest addition to its Abraham Bowman Oak Series: American Oak. Founded in 1934 on a 7,200-acre family farm in Fairfax County, the distillery relocated to Fredericksburg, where it continues to craft premium, small-batch spirits with a blend of history and innovation. Its award-winning lineup includes Bowman Brothers Small Batch Bourbon, John J. Bowman Single Barrel Bourbon, and the Abraham Bowman Limited Edition Collection.
The Abraham Bowman Oak Series is an exciting project focused on the impact of various oak types on whiskey aging. This latest release uses American White Oak—traditionally the go-to wood for whiskey barrels—aged for 12 years to bring out complex, bold flavors. Head Distiller David Bock describes it as a “delicious balance” of raspberry jam, smoky undertones, and hints of pepper, all presented at a robust 135 proof. The whiskey’s deep red color and smooth finish make it a true standout for collectors and whiskey fans alike.
From November 25 to December 2, whiskey enthusiasts can enter an online lottery for the chance to purchase a bottle of Abraham Bowman American Oak. Winners will be notified on December 4 and must pick up their bottles at the A. Smith Bowman Gift Shop by December 22. Each bottle will be sold for $79.99.
This limited-edition release is a unique opportunity to experience a rare, expertly crafted bourbon that honors Virginia’s rich distilling heritage. To learn more about A. Smith Bowman Distillery and its selection of fine spirits, visit asmithbowman.com.
