The resident nature center, which opened back in 1983, has successfully upheld its ongoing mission “to provide engaging educational and recreational opportunities in nature that will instill a sense of wonder, promote environmental stewardship, and create a lasting legacy of positive choices in [our own] backyards, Maryland, and the Chesapeake Bay.” This is primarily done through the wealth of in-house exhibits and attractions they present, some of which include live animals, fossils, historic tools and artifacts on display, reading materials, activity rooms, and more.
